What we observed
The shirt becomes green in every returned image, with noticeably different shades. GPT’s two shirts are more olive; FLUX uses a darker, more saturated green. In FLUX’s second run, the jeans also become much lighter blue, despite the instruction to keep them. A successful recolor still needs a check of everything around it.

What we observed
GPT’s first shirt keeps a partial tuck, while FLUX’s first shirt has a longer, untucked hem. Qwen’s blue is stronger. Nano’s second run returns a shirt, but also changes the closed-mouth expression to a toothy smile. The returned first runs reproduce the navy floral dress, short sleeves and wrap neckline, but differ in print scale, skirt fullness and hem length. GPT’s hem sits lower than FLUX’s. How we tested
We fixed six editing tasks, four model configurations and two attempts per task before generating. Every attempt starts with the original person photo, the same prompt and, for the reference task, the same garment image. All people shown are fictional adults from our own sample library.
These are real outputs from the same PhotoGenerAI generation adapter used by our tools. We ran the adapter directly, outside browser billing and private history. GPT Image 2, Nano Banana 2 and FLUX.2 Pro used Vercel AI Gateway; Qwen used its Qianwen endpoint. Listed credits are the tool price for that configuration, not charges to a customer wallet.
This compares the configurations available in our tool. GPT uses Low quality; Nano and FLUX use 1K; Qwen is available at 2K. FLUX resizes reference inputs to a maximum 960-pixel long edge and encodes them as JPEG. Other models receive the source WebP files. Actual output sizes, available request receipts and the complete adapter-wrapped prompt are included in the download.
Timing starts immediately before the model call and ends when image bytes return. It includes the adapter’s input preparation and provider request, but excludes browser uploads, verification, billing and history storage. Medians and ranges include only successful returns; failures remain in the gallery and data.
This batch includes gateway delivery failures, which do not assess image quality. After two unusually long first-run Nano requests failed, we added a four-minute request deadline for the remaining attempts. No failed attempt was replaced. Provider charges for failed requests are unknown.
The main image is always the first attempt. Expand the second run to see variation; an unsuccessful attempt stays in the record. Visual judgments are an unblinded AI-assisted editorial review by PhotoGenerAI, with one reviewer and no independent human rating. Each attempt has four criteria: instruction completion, person preservation, preservation of other areas and natural appearance. The reference case adds garment fidelity. Each has a Pass, Partial, Fail or Not assessed judgment and a concrete reason. A task passes only when all applicable criteria pass; every planned attempt, including delivery failures, stays in the denominator. Six cases and two repeats do not establish a universal winner.
Detail view applies the same enlargement and position to each full output. Original files remain available without retouching, face correction or sharpening. A landscape source can be reframed by a portrait output; compare the full images as well as the detail view. The square business and landscape street inputs conflict with the fixed 3:4 output and the prompt’s instruction to preserve framing. We mark that preservation shortfall for all affected models; it cannot be attributed to model choice alone.
